Snow dough

When your children are done playing in the cold wet stuff why not whip them up some 'snow dough' to bring the snowman inside.

We had fun with this recipe earlier this year.

You will need:

1 cup Baking Soda
2 cup Corn Starch / Corn Flour
1 and 1/2 cups Water

Mix all the ingredients except the glitter in a saucepan over a medium heat. It will begin runny as the ingredients dissolve, it will then begin to get stiffer and resemble more of a cottage cheese. At this point keep a close eye and if you can get the mixture to begin coming away from the edge of the pan cleanly remove from the heat.

Scoop the mixture into a bowl to cool slightly, you will want to cover it with a damp cloth. When it has cooled enough to knead, remove the cloth and add the glitter. Slowly knead the mixture with your hands until the glitter is incorporated into the dough and you have a nice consistency. If it is a little too dry and crumbly you can knead in a little extra water but be careful not to add too much at a time as it can become sticky.

Now its time to play, we began rolling it out and cutting shapes

But quickly decided Snowmen were far more fun, all we used were some buttons, pipe cleaners and of course some carrot slivers for the nose.

Buba wanted a green face so I cut some craft foam,

It wasn't long before the snowman had an unfortunate accident with the rolling pin, I blame the movie Frozen as I was told he had melted!
